Glass Cleaning

This is a micro-fiber cloth!

I know I mentioned how important it is to clean the glass of your pictures once in a while. Well recently I came across some glass cleaning tips that I would like to share with you.

Glass Cleaning Tips

• Small spots may be removed by using a dry micro-fiber cloth and wiping in circular motions.



• The entire surface of a glass may be cleaned by spraying a small amount of glass cleaner on a micro-fiber cloth and wiping in circular motions. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the glass to prevent streaking and seepage onto the matboard and artwork.



• If a micro-fiber cloth is not available, use a lint free clean cotton rag.

I have to say if you clean your picture glass as the above states, you will experience a big difference on how your picture will look.

I Love Framing

I love framing because I enjoy seeing people smile when they see their special item framed. It really brings joy to my heart to see people so happy. I also like to be challenged and I must say sometimes people bring in the shop unusual things to be framed so I have to think about what's the best way to frame it.

Yes I have been introduced to Ebay. I'm sold no pun intended on selling on ebay. I started to sell some things on Ebay. Frames, pictures, old photos and posters. Here are some pictures of some of the items I posted. See if you can go on Ebay and find my items I posted for sale. I already sold one thing.

Two more things to be framed.

With the warmer weather coming upon us I thought when this oil painting painted by one of our patrons came in the shop to be framed I'd share it with everyone. She put alot of care and time into this painting. The girl in the picture is letting the pile of sand sift through her hands on the beach. I also thought it would be nice to show that a sport jersey could be framed side ways too.

Mounting Posters

I'm hoping this blog is beginning to become a little more informative in learning what services frame shops can provide for you. Did you ever organize a fundraiser or special event where you had to display posters. Perhaps you struggled with ideas on how you would go about displaying these posters in an attractive way. Well maybe today I have some answers for you. One way is you can simply have them mounted on foam board. It's less expensive and makes the poster more attractive. Plus the advantage is you can reuse them each year for a recurring fundraiser event or to just hang. To hang them we can attach an adhesive hanger centered on the back of the foam board the poster is mounted on.

Needle Point

Yes we frame needlepoints. One of our patrons brought in a few needlepoints the other day. Here is some of her work. I love the saying that is written on this needlepoint on the left. "Life is not measured by the breaths you take. But by the moments that take your breath ~ Away~. Do you?

Hard At Work...

As you can see Bob and I are hard at work doing our best to provide our patrons with quality work. The reason why I'm holding a hammer is because one process in framing is attaching a hanger on the back of the frame. There are all kinds of hangers; wire, large zig zags, small zig zags etc. I'm hammering a small zigzag metal hanger on the back of this frame using a nail puncher and a hammer. But before you just hammer a metal hanger on the back you need to find the exact center of the frame. You can do this by measuring the length of the side of the frame you are attaching the zig zag than you divide that measurement in half. If you like fractions you would like this. Mark your center with a pencil. Place the hanger centered with the pencil mark then mark holes with an awl. This allows the picture to hang straight on the wall. If you do not center the hanger the picture will hang crooked. Just a little tip for you in case you want to put your own hanger on the back of your own frame. You can also see Bob hard at work brushing a glass for a picture frame. It is important that the glass is clean on both sides with no dust or particles so any picture will be seen clearly through the glass. So when was the last time you dusted the outside of the glass hanging on your wall? It's a good idea to do this so people can enjoy the beauty of your picture or photo.
